Journalists from France and 10 countries in Africa cover Yokohama’s TICAD-related activities

Members of the press from 10 African countries and France assigned to cover the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting on October 6 and 7 visited Yokohama to report on its TICAD-related initiatives on October 4.
The journalists first visited Pacifico Yokohama, where they were briefed on Yokohama’s activities in anticipation of TICAD 7 before heading to a local elementary school participating in the “One Country One School” program. They observed the students in their classes, doing the cleaning chores, and having lunch. Some expressed their amazement at the students going about the cleaning and tasks for getting lunch ready of their own initiative, and remarked that they wanted to tell people back in their home countries about it.
Afterwards, the group traveled to the Kanazawa Recycling Center to report on Yokohama’s waste management and recycling practices.
